Seasonal Search and Rescue stations in Atlantic Canada are open for the 2026 operational season

May 19, 2026 - St. John's - National Defence / Canadian Coast Guard

The following Canadian Coast Guard seasonal search and rescue stations across New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador are now open for the 2026 season:

  • Shippagan, New Brunswick
  • Souris and Summerside, Prince Edward Island
  • Old Perlican, Twillingate, Port au Choix, St. Anthony and Corner Brook (Temporary location), Newfoundland and Labrador

Please note that while wharf infrastructure upgrades are ongoing at Lark Harbour, our crew will be operating out of Corner Brook at the Bay of Islands Yacht Club.

Waterways remain very cold at this time of year and take much longer to warm up when compared to the air. Boaters are reminded to take necessary precautions when near or on waterways. Transport Canada's Safe Boating Guide (PDF, 8.1 MB) is an excellent source of information in preparation for the recreational boating season.

Emergencies on the water can be reported 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by calling the regional emergency line, or channel 16 via marine VHF radio: Report a search and rescue incident
