LONDON, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- More than 90 people were arrested during climate protests that blocked parts of a major motorway in the morning rush hours, police from several forces around London confirmed Monday.
Dozens of environmental protesters blocked junctions off London's orbital motorway M25 just after 8 a.m. on Monday, causing miles of car queues.
"Protesters ignored police requests to move location, so we took robust action to enable roads to be reopened and to remove the protesters causing obstructions," said Superintendent of Hertfordshire Police Adam Willmot.
The M25 London orbital motorway was a major road encircling almost all of Greater London. The 117-mile motorway was one of the busiest roads in the UK.
