Robert Wagner considered killing ex-wife Natalie Wood's lover
The London News.Net Sunday 28th September, 2008 (ANI)
London, Sept 28 : Actor Robert Wagner has revealed that he was so distraught over the break-up of his first marriage to actress Natalie Wood that he considered killing his wife's lover, actor Warren Beatty.
In his new autobiography "Pieces of My Heart", Wagner claims that he was so troubled with his first break-up with Wood that he would sit with a gun outside Beatty's home, intent on killing him.
The book details his career and life, including the break-up with Wood, their decision to remarry a decade later and her drowning death in 1981.
"I was pretty young, and I don't think I could have gone through with it, but I was pretty frustrated and upset. Beatty was the man," Telegraph quoted him as, stating.
Wagner married Wood in 1957 but they divorced in 1962, only to remarry in 1972.
However, Wagner was left 'absolutely paralyzed' in 1981 when Wood's body was found floating off California's Catalina Island.
Wood's death followed a row between Wagner and 'Deer Hunter' actor Christopher Walken, who was dining with the couple on their yacht, Splendor.
Wood went below to their cabin, while the two men went up on deck to cool down. At about midnight, Wagner returned to the cabin and discovered his wife was missing and the yacht's dinghy had gone.
Wagner believes that Wood, who had drunk a lot, lost her footing and fell overboard.
However, speculation has persisted that Wood drowned trying to flee the boat as Wagner and Walken argued over her career.
