Iraq forces due to reclaim dangerous province
The London News.Net Wednesday 27th August, 2008
Iraqi forces are due to take over Anbar province.
US officials say allied troops will hand over the province, once regarded as the most dangerous in the country, to Iraqi forces over the next few days.
The province is home to the city of Fallujah, which saw fierce fighting between US and Iraqi insurgents in 2004.
Violence in the region decreased at the end of 2006 as local Sunnis joined the fight against Al Qaeda.
But violence has continued to drop and a ceremony to hand control of Anbar province over to Iraq is said to be imminent.
