Toyota Prius declared Britain's most iconic car
The London News.Net Thursday 8th May, 2008 (ANI)
London, May 8 : The hybrid Toyota Prius car has triumphed in a major satisfaction survey and has attained an iconic status due to high satisfaction levels with the model's quality and reliability.
The Toyota Prius tops this year's Car Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) study, making its owners most satisfied in Britain.
The Prius scored 901 points out of a possible 1000, with owners reporting particularly high satisfaction levels with the model's quality and reliability.
The petrol/electric Prius was already the favourite "green" motor, with sales touching one million since the original went on sale in 1999.
Now it has topped the JD Power and What Car? Magazine's Customer Satisfaction survey.
What Car? editor Steve Fowler said: "The Prius has iconic status thanks to its green credentials, now it's also the watchword for satisfaction and reliability."
The Prius, which starts at 17,800 pound, has benefited from the Chancellor raising tax on the least environmentally friendly cars, The Sun reported.
Japanese cars also did well overall, with Lexus topping the manufacturers table for most satisfied customers for the eighth year in a row. Honda, Toyota and Mazda were also in the top ten.
Skoda led the way for Europe, finishing second to Lexus in the manufacturers table. Its Octavia was best medium car.
Jaguar was the top UK manufacturer, in fifth. Its S-Type was top executive car. The poll of 16,000 drivers covered 28 brands and 100 models.
